How to get to Prague Airport — overview
Václav Havel Airport Prague (IATA: PRG) is about 17 km northwest of the city center. Prague still doesn’t have a direct metro line to the airport, but there are several reliable options.
The best choice depends on where you start, how much luggage you have, your flight time (early/late), and your budget. Below are practical options with typical times and costs.
Metro + Bus 119 cheapest option
from 40 CZKThe most common low-cost route is Metro line A to Nádraží Veleslavín and then Bus 119 to the terminals. A 90-minute ticket covers metro + bus and costs 40 CZK.
Step by step
- Take Metro line A from the center.
- Ride to Nádraží Veleslavín (end station).
- Transfer to Bus 119 right outside the metro exit.
- Get off at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.
When this is not ideal
With lots of luggage, reduced mobility, or very early flights, public transport is less comfortable. Consider taxi or driving with parking.
Airport Express: direct bus from downtown
100 CZKAirport Express (AE) runs directly from Prague Main Railway Station to the airport (no metro change). It also stops near Dejvická (Metro A).
Key benefits
- Direct service (no transfer) from Main Station and Dejvická.
- More luggage space than regular buses.
- Ticket costs 100 CZK.
- Often every ~30 minutes, travel time about 35–45 minutes.
Taxi, Bolt & Uber: fastest option
400–700 CZK
Taxi or ridesharing (Bolt/Uber) is usually the fastest and easiest option, especially with luggage or early/late flights.
Bolt vs Uber vs classic taxi
Bolt and Uber show the price upfront and are often cheaper than classic taxis. From the center, it’s commonly 350–500 CZK, higher at peak times.
Classic taxi from downtown is typically 500–800 CZK. Agree on the price or ensure the meter is running.
Driving: freedom, but mind the parking cost
depends on stayDriving can be the most convenient option for families and lots of luggage. The main question is where to park during your trip.
On-airport parking: direct but expensive
Parking next to terminals is convenient but quickly gets pricey for longer trips. Compare alternatives.
| Parking | Distance | Price / day | 7 days | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P1 (short stay) | Right by T2 | ~700–1,400 CZK | ~6,000+ CZK | Short stay |
| P2 (long stay) | Walk/bus | ~250–400 CZK | ~2,000 CZK | Long stay |
| P3 Economy | Shuttle bus | ~200–350 CZK | ~1,600 CZK | Economy |
| FixParking | 5 min by car | Much lower | Save hundreds | + free shuttle |
